Sophie Anderson (1823-1903)   
Largely self-taught, Sophie Anderson is mainly known for Walker-esque child portraits. She left Paris during the unrest of 1848 and went to America, marrying the painter Walter Anderson. They came to London in 1854, but as Sophie's healt deteriorated in the 1870s they moved -- first temporarily and then permamently -- to the Mediterranean.       Works by Anderson at
