Victorian Painting
Julian Treuherz (Thames and Hudson, 1993)

This well-written book gives a remarkably uncluttered resumé of British painting in the Victorian era. The example paintings are well selected, mostly from a wide range of public galleries. It might be an ideal introduction to the subject, but the small size of the illustrations and the limited colour make it a book to appeal most of all to those already familiar with many of pictures, but still trying to make an overall pattern of the currents and eddies of the Victorian art world.       Locate a copy of this book at Alibris
