A very readable biography of Forbes and his wife Elizabeth. Other Newlyn
artists are dealt with in adeqaute detail as a background for Forbes, but in
their own right the shorter 'bio-sketches' are tantalizing, especially as there
is very little bibliography. The book is excellently illustrated as regards
paintings, but there is only one photograph -- a group picture. Contemporary
views, or even a map, of Newlyn would have been informative.
