The catalogue for an exhibition of paintings selected from those normally on
display at National Trust properties. These
are by no means all 19th-century pictures, as the collections inherited with the
houses come from many periods (portraits and the fruits of the grand tour are
especially popular).
The descriptive books obtainable at individual properties often contain
considerable amount of detail about the paintings on display, and are probably
better value unless your interest in art is truly catholic.
