"Pre-Raphaelitism is not Pre-Raphaelism", stated William Holman Hunt, denying that they had
sought to turn back the clock. However we note that Hunt was given to
tendentious pronouncements, such as "Art is Love" (both of these are in
Pre-Raphaelitism and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, 1905).
