Edward Moxon (1801-1858) was an enthusiastic
publisher of poetry. His illustrated edition of Tennyson, which came out in 1857, gave an early opportunity to a number of
the Pre-Raphaelites; but the size of the
project and its indifferent reception contributed to Moxon's early demise.
A fuller account of Edward Moxon's life, and of the family firm that he founded,
is provided
by his great-great-grandson.
