Leeds City Art Gallery
Leeds

Leeds City Art GalleryThe gallery is quite easy to find since it is next door to the main Library and City Hall. There is plenty of 'short stay' parking within easy walking distance. The gallery also incorporates the Henry Moore Institute which contains a fine collection of twentieth-century sculpture.
The Victorian paintings form the core of the original collection. They have a room to themselves on the ground floor, and are therefore normally on display. The speciality of the collection is Grimshaw, who was born in Leeds and lived for many years at Knostrop Hall, north of the city. Over recent years, the gallery has built up a collection of about twenty of his paintings, and a room is devoted to displaying them, along with some information about the artist's life.
